Do Real Work for Real People

C2P2 enlists colleges and universities to assist underserved communities with vital technical support through student internships, classroom work, capstone, and practicum projects. At the same time, C2P2 provides practical experience for participating students in their areas of academic study, and students generally receive academic credit for their efforts. Also, there is added satisfaction of knowing their work matters; you are making a difference in the lives of those that need the help the most. Colleges and universities understand that not all compensation is financial; the value of the experiential learning opportunities are immeasurable.

o The college curriculum comes alive when students at every level can apply what they’ve learned in real life situations.

o You get to choose a project that matters to you and benefits the communities we serve.

o C2P2 identifies the projects and coordinates the effort; your students work with partners that look forward to working with them.

o Students gain valuable experience to put on their resumes to gain opportunities after they graduate.

The following are examples of projects that became a reality:

Markerspaces

At San Juan College in Farmington, New Mexico, two makerspaces were designed so well that a combination of federal, state, and philanthropic funds were garnered to build the makerspaces to help keep talented youth in the area. The design was a joint venture with San Juan College and Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Bridge Study

In Selma, Alabama, a one-hundred-page feasibility study was used to provide pro bono value to the Army Corps of Engineers to begin work studying the impact of erosion of the Alabama River affecting the structural supports of the Edmund Pettus Bridge.

Cybersecurity Training

A cybersecurity training plan designed for East Point, Georgia city employees was considered so effective it has been incorporated for use by cites in other parts of the state.

After School STEM and Healthy Eating

In Flint, Michigan, students from Michigan State University and Kettering University are providing after school STEM education and healthy eating programs for minority children in underserved neighborhoods.

Broadband Study

In Livingston, Alabama, a broadband study done by the University of West Alabama prompted a broadband provider to provide free broadband service for the Livingston downtown area to encourage economic development.
