Land Use Plan for the Indigenous Village of Tyonek, Alaska

In December 2021, because of all the projects planned for Tyonek, as well as additional projects planned by both the village and the corporation, Tyonek requested assistance in the development of a land use plan.

Ms. Cheryl Kelly, DOI, reached out to students at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VT) to solicit interest in supporting the project. Two graduate students responded to the request and agreed to work on the land use plan. Ms. Grace Cochon, DOI in Alaska, also reached out to a professor at Alaska Pacific University (APU).  He agreed to support the project, and work with the students. Work is scheduled to begin in January 2022 and be completed by May 2022.
