The College of Coastal Georgia’s Spring 2022 Management 4100 Entrepreneurship class students prepared a feasibility study for the potential Fisher Folk Shrimping Cooperative. Five Gullah Geechee fishermen are determined to form a shrimping cooperative in the southeastern U.S coastal area. The fishermen consist of 4 retired captains and their families. The captains believe a shrimping cooperative will help sustain the Gullah Geechee people’s centuries long shrimping tradition and help provide financial stability among Gullah Geechee Fisherfolk for generations to come.
